Baggage

How much should hand (cabin) and checked baggage at Qatar Airways weigh and measure?

Are you departing soon and your flight is booked with Qatar Airways? The national carrier of Qatar has special regulations regarding luggage, it is best to know them in advance. This will give you peace of mind when you pack your luggage and avoid trouble during check-in.

Before the flight, when packing for a trip, it is important to know how much baggage, both checked in the baggage compartment and hand baggage, can be carried free of charge.

Here is the baggage allowance applied by Qatar Airways, you will know everything about the weight, size and number of baggage allowed in the cabin and in the hold.

Cabin baggage on Qatar Airways flights: Authorized weights and dimensions

Qatar Airways hand baggage allowance depends on the class of the ticket, regardless of the destination. The maximum dimensions allowed for cabin baggage are as follows: 50 cm x 37 cm x 25 cm. In addition to the deductible, it is possible to bring a personal item, such as a purse, a coat, an umbrella, a pair of crutches or a cane, a camera bag or a car seat.

– First and Business Class: 2 pieces of luggage allowed, for a total weight of 15 kg.

– Economy Class: 1 piece of luggage allowed, for a maximum weight of 7 kg. For all airline tickets issued in Brazil or passengers traveling to or from Brazil, the baggage weight limit is 10 kg.

Hand baggage requirements

Qatar Airways does not include the passenger’s personal items in hand baggage: handbag, cane, cameras and Duty Free purchases made on the day of the flight. Laptops are considered carry-on baggage.

Please note that laptops and their carrying bag do not count as personal accessories and are included in the hand baggage allowance.

All baggage carried by the passenger, including baggage in the cabin of the Qatar Airways aircraft, must be presented at flight check-in due to security requirements and aircraft load control considerations. For the most part, baggage compartments are similar in size in different types of aircraft, but despite this, the Qatari air carrier has very different requirements for carry-on baggage. And it is not a hazard. The closer the seats are to each other, the more passengers can be accommodated in the cabin, and the less room for your belongings and vice versa. Paradox: the more passengers, the less luggage.

Remember that the dimensions of your luggage are measured taking into account all the protruding parts – the wheels and handles. This is why two-wheeled hand-held cases have a slightly larger volume than four-wheeled suitcases of the same dimensions.

If your trip includes another airline, including codeshare flights (codeshare flights) with a Qatar Airways number, but operated by another airline, then that airline may provide less baggage than its own. Qatar Airways flights, the carriage of baggage on codeshare flights are governed by the rules of the dominant carrier.

Qatar Airways additional hand baggage may include the following:

– Newspapers or magazines to read on the plane;

– A cane or crutches;

– Baby cradle, stroller and other portable devices for children;

– Baby food;

– An umbrella;

– Bouquet of flowers;

– A blanket or outerwear;

– Goods purchased on the day of the Duty Free flight;

– A briefcase or purse.

In hand luggage, you can take aerosols and liquids with you when traveling in special containers with a volume not exceeding 100 ml. In this case, the container is placed in a transparent plastic bag with a volume of 1 liter. It must be submitted for inspection in a separate order. These restrictions do not apply to baby food and medication. However, do not forget to present a prescription for a pharmacological agent. Otherwise, it will not be possible to transport it in the aircraft cabin.

It is forbidden to transport small vehicles (mini-segways, single-wheelers, etc.) running on lithium batteries in hand luggage. Qatar Airways passengers are allowed to carry drones with them in their checked baggage and hand baggage. If you intend to carry these devices in your checked baggage, be sure to remove the batteries and put them in your hand baggage. You will need to purchase a separate ticket when transporting a musical instrument, the maximum weight of which should not exceed 75 kg, and the length – 120 cm.

If you are carrying a portable device, turn it off. To avoid accidental activation, the device should be placed in protective packaging in a case made of dense material. Spare batteries and electronic cigarettes are not permitted in checked baggage. On the other hand, powdery substances with a volume greater than 350 ml are only transported in the luggage compartment. This does not apply to baby food, medicinal powders and human remains.

Qatar Airways passengers, whose hand baggage dimensions must not exceed 50 × 37 × 25 cm, are prohibited from including the following items:

– Sharp and sharp objects;

– Explosives;

– Chemical agents;

– Dull tools;

– Firearms and other objects that fire shots;

– Ammunition;

– Work tool;

– Shocking.

    Why is 50 cm the maximum size for Qatar Airlines, when every other airline in the world allows and accepts 55? They don’t even make luggages that size! i can’t find a single one in the market that is less than 55.

    I understand that I can take a small camera bag as hand luggage in addition to my 7kg hand luggage allowance.
