
Qatar Airways orders more 777-9s
Qatar Airways strengthens its fleet with a bold order for 20 Boeing 777-9s, announced at the 2024 Farnborough Airshow. The new addition continues an ambitious expansion plan, bringing the total order to 74 aircraft , with staggered deliveries of 40 Boeing 777-9s and 34 Boeing 777-8Fs.
The Boeing 777-9, the centerpiece of this expansion, is a flagship model for airlines seeking efficiency and capacity. This long-haul jet can accommodate up to 426 passengers in a standard two-class configuration, offering an impressive range of up to 13,500 kilometers.
Equipped with new technologies, such as foldable wings that reduce the ground span, the 777-9 stands out for reduced fuel consumption.
Currently, Qatar Airways operates 57 B777 aircraft, including 7 B777-200LRs and 28 B777-8Fs.
