Traveling with one or more additional pieces of baggage by plane: Benefit from exclusive discounts launched by Qatar Airways
In fact, you can buy additional baggage when traveling with Qatar Airways, only if you are flying to / from the Americas (Argentina, Brazil, Canada and USA). Quoting from their page on the matter:
Excess baggage is billed per kilo, except to / from the Americas, where it is billed per piece.
Excess baggage on flights to / from the remaining countries is charged per kilogram. In addition, excess baggage for these countries can be sold in packages of 5 kg. Quoting from the same page:
Purchase units are offered in single piece increments or packages of 5 kg (11 lb) each. This would allow you to buy a little extra 5 kg baggage.
The price per kilogram depends on the country of departure and destination. It appears that from Europe to Australia the price per kilogram of excess baggage is $ 55 if purchased online and $ 70 if purchased in person (either at the counter or at check-in).
If you exceed the allowed weight or the number of bags, you will have to pay additional fees.
The cost of carrying excess and oversized baggage on Qatar Airways flights depends on the destination of your flight. You can pay for this in several ways: at qatarairways.com, at Qatar Airways offices, at travel agencies or at the airport during check-in.
Rules for additional baggage on Qatar Airways flights
Additional baggage charge for 1 kg, except for flights to / from Argentina, Brazil, Canada and the United States, where a charge is charged per piece of baggage or per piece of baggage, for one trip, each passenger has the right to carry a maximum of 5 pieces of luggage or 100 kg.
The cost of additional baggage is calculated per passenger on each flight, where “journey” means the route from the point of departure to the last point, which does not include the point of transfer.
Payment is only possible after the ticket has been issued, but no later than 3 hours before departure and is only valid for the flight and the date indicated on the payment receipt. To see if your ticket has been issued, check if the ticket number appears next to the passenger’s name on your booking confirmation.
The airline makes the final decision to accept additional baggage when checking in at the airport. If baggage cannot be accepted due to limited capacity or flight schedule changes, a refund may be granted or transportation may be offered on another flight following the same itinerary.

Exceptional cases
Passengers flying on the routes between Qatar and one of the destinations in Africa must pay a fee of 100US for the transport of each additional piece of baggage.
The cost of carrying additional baggage may increase to 280US when taking a flight from Qatar to Alexandria.
For flights operated by the Qatari company from the Egyptian destination, the fare to be paid is 500 USD per piece of luggage.
The cost of transporting an additional baggage on board a plane taking off from / to Buenos Aires and Brazil is fixed at 80USD.
As for the transport of additional luggage for babies traveling without a reservation (on their parents’ knees), the transport costs will be added and counted against the reservation costs of the guardians.
