Qatar Airways: What rule for the transport of sports equipment in baggage?

Most active sports, one of the main components of winter and summer recreation, require the use of certain equipment. When traveling, the question naturally arises of the transport of sports equipment to the place of arrival.

According to the rules of international airlines including Qatar Airways, sports equipment is classified as non-standard baggage.

Non-standard baggage is unformed baggage or baggage that is heavy including sports equipment or other baggage for which special conditions of carriage are prescribed. The Qatar Airways airline indicates the maximum weight, size and what is included in a set of luggage. The payment for certain types of non-standard baggage is fixed. Otherwise, transportation may be included in the baggage allowance for the hold (checked in).

Qatar Airways authorizes a wide range of sports equipment. From golf clubs to surfboards, the airline allows passengers to travel with sports equipment (to be carried in checked baggage).

Qatar Airways allows its passengers to take all sporting goods as checked baggage included in the free allowance established by the air carrier.

That said, for any overrun of this free allowance, the traveler will have to pay for the excess baggage.

Indeed, these prices can change, as well as the rules for the transport of sports equipment. It is therefore recommended to check the conditions of carriage with an official Qatar Airways employee. In addition, the transport of all non-standard baggage must be agreed in advance.

    Hi,

May I clarify if tennis racket and badminton racket are counted as standard baggage? If I bring them as hand carry, do I need to only follow the hand baggage reqirement?
