Virgin Australia launches flights to Doha

Virgin Australia announces that it has just signed an open codeshare agreement with Qatar Airways. This partnership covers 70 weekly flights that the two operators now operate between Doha and several cities in Australia, including Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, and other destinations.

The Doha-Sydney service has just been launched, as the two partner airlines announced that the inaugural flight between Doha Hamad (DOH) and Brisbane (BNE) will take place on June 19th, with flights to Perth starting seven days later. However, flights to Melbourne will not begin until December 25th of this year.

Dave Emerson, the new CEO of Virgin Australia, said: “We are pleased to expand our partnership with Qatar Airways, which will allow our passengers to benefit from compelling services on these new routes.

Moreover, this partnership will bring significant commercial benefits to both airlines.”

The same statement quoted Qatar Airways CEO Badr Mohammed Al-Meer as saying on the occasion: “This alliance will enable the two airlines to offer more than 2.5 million seats on the newly launched routes.”
