Qatar Airways ramps up its winter schedule

Qatar Airways has unveiled its schedule for the 2026-2027 winter season. The Qatari national carrier will serve over 170 destinations, operating more than 1,800 weekly flights throughout the season.

A review of the schedule reveals that Qatar Airways is focusing both on resuming several suspended routes and strengthening key existing ones.

Qatar Airways increases capacity to London

Starting October 25, flights between Doha and London Heathrow will increase from 49 to 56 weekly frequencies, representing an 11% capacity boost. To support this service, the Oneworld alliance carrier is bringing back the Airbus A380 to operate alongside the twin-aisle Boeing 777 and Airbus A350 long-haul aircraft already in service.

Qatar Airways’ A380 features a three-class configuration, First, Business (Qsuite on A350 flights; standard Business cabin on the A380), and Economy, and boasts one of the largest onboard lounges in the aviation industry. British Airways complements this offering with a daily codeshare flight.

Increased flights to the Maldives

The Doha-Malé route will increase from 12 to 21 weekly flights starting October 25, averaging three daily round-trip services. For this destination, Qatar Airways typically alternates between the Boeing 777-300ER and the Airbus A350, depending on fleet requirements and the time of year.

Return to Canberra and Melbourne

Qatar Airways has also announced the resumption of flights connecting Doha-Hamad to Canberra, Australia, starting December 9. Operated by the Boeing 777-300ER with a stopover in Melbourne, the service will run 14 times a week, up from just seven times last year. The Qatari airline will also serve Brisbane and Perth, with three and four weekly flights respectively.

Other routes being boosted by Qatar Airways this winter

A significant increase in flight frequencies is also evident in Qatar Airways’ winter schedule from Doha (DOH), specifically:

– Phuket (Thailand): 21 flights per week (7 additional flights)
– Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia): Up to 18 flights per week (+14)

Zanzibar (Tanzania) and Montreal (Canada) will also see their weekly schedules increased to daily flights from Doha.

Starting in November, the Qatari carrier will expand service to:

– Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam): 11 flights per week (+4)

On December 2, it will launch flights to Johannesburg, South Africa, with 18 flights per week, and will operate 21 flights per week to Frankfurt, Germany.

Three months later, Qatar Airways will begin service to the Seychelles with a daily flight.

How many miles can you earn?

The number of Avios earned depends on:

the distance flown,
the booking class (Economy, Business, or First Class fare),
your status level in the program (Burgundy, Silver, Gold, or Platinum).

Rather than estimating a generic figure, which would vary significantly depending on your exact route, fare, and program status, use Qatar Airways “My Calculator” tool; it instantly provides the number of Avios and Qpoints for any route and cabin class.
