Qatar Airways unveils new Business Class for its 787-9 aircraft
Qatar Airways, the national airline of Qatar and member of the Oneworld alliance, has unveiled the new Business Class of its 787-9, which is officially deployed this Friday between Doha and Milan-Malpensa.
Designed with Qatar Airways’ unique design DNA and appealing to the most discerning travellers, the new Business Class Adient Ascent “embodies a truly personal, spacious and functional contemporary design, allowing you to relax in your own private sanctuary.” Arranged in a herringbone pattern in a 1-2-1 configuration, each of the 30 suites has direct aisle access with a sliding door to ensure the ultimate in privacy and comfort; passengers in adjacent center suites can slide out the privacy panels at the touch of a button to create their own private enclosed space.
The seat converts to a fully flat 79-inch bed, providing high levels of on-board comfort. Passengers can relax during their flight knowing that their personal mobile device is safely stored in a dedicated phone holder, equipped with wireless charging technology compatible with iOS and Android devices.
The 787-9 Dreamliner is used on Qatar Airways flights to Athens, Barcelona, Dammam, Karachi, Kuala Lumpur, Madrid and therefore Milan, with a total capacity of 311 seats – 30 Business Class suites and 281 Economy seats. Seven of the thirty copies ordered have been delivered, as well as the thirty 787-8s expected (configured in 22+232).

Business Class passengers can enjoy a wide selection of international dishes, food and beverages, as well as healthy vegan meal options that are part of Qatar Airways’ at the menu card. Not only will passengers enjoy award-winning cuisine, but premium passengers will be “pampered with products and amenities from world-class brands including Narumi, BRIC’S, diptyque, TWG Tea, Castello Monte Vibiano Vecchio and The White Company for n to name a few.
In Economy Class, the 281 seats produced by Recaro exemplify the latest design and technology. Each seat is equipped with a 13-inch Panasonic IFE touchscreen in addition to a personal electronic device holder for mobile devices and iPads. The seat has a rotating armrest that can be completely stored in the backrest, providing a more comfortable and spacious experience. Passengers will enjoy the full Quisine dining experience, providing an elevated economy class travel experience.
