Qatar Airways launches the Oryx Connect platform
Qatar Airways is launching Oryx Connect, a new platform dedicated to business partners developed on the basis of the NDC standard to enable them to create tailor-made travel experiences for their customers.
Developed on the basis of the New Distribution Capability (NDC) data transmission standard developed by IATA in partnership with the travel industry, Oryx Connect benefits travel agents through improved functionality, an intuitive user experience, a access to rich content and the ability to personalize travel experiences for their customers.
The platform offers various options for using Qatar Airways NDC content. In addition to the existing intuitive and user-friendly web portal powered by Accelya Farelogix’s SPRK tool, agents can now access NDC content from a range of aggregators including Aarongroup, Duffel, Travelfusion, Travvise and Verteil. The Amadeus travel platform will be added in early 2022. Discussions are underway with a range of other global distribution systems and aggregators.
Travel agents benefit via Oryx Connect from full capacity for managing offers and orders, from reservation to payment, including after-sales service and ticketing. PressReader enables the Qatari national carrier, based at Doha-Hamad International Airport, to offer its passengers unlimited access to more than 6,000 international digital magazines and newspapers. This service will soon be offered through its Oryx One in-flight entertainment app, offering travelers a single, complete digital experience.
Passengers can access the tickets by downloading the Oryx One app (for Android and iOS) on their personal electronic devices, inserting their reservation reference number (PNR) in the app’s newsstand and selecting the tickets they want. to safeguard. The service will be available up to three days before and seven days after their flight.
The downloaded content will remain in the digital traveler library for as long as the app is installed, reducing waste associated with print newspapers and magazines, which on the ground and in the air represent more than 1,000 tonnes each year. Also, unlike other airlines’ digital offerings, passengers will not need to leave Oryx One or download other apps to access content at any time.
