The return of Qatar Airways to the Doha-Windhoek air route is formalized. According to Dan Kamati, Spokesperson for the company taking over the management of the Namibian city’s airport, called Namibia Airports Company, he announced that Qatar Airways made its first flight to the city of the Central African country in departing from its Doha Hamad International hub last Saturday. The flight operated by Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner landed at Windhoek Airport at 12:30 p.m.
This route is the first to be served by the Qatari carrier to Namibia for more than two years. Flights have been suspended due to the pandemic.
The Qatari national company now offers three weekly frequencies between the two destinations, provided every Saturday, Tuesday and Thursday.
It was during the meeting of the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and the President of the Republic of Namaibia Hage Geingob that the announcement of the reopening of this flight was made. The first government officials of the two countries discussed the possibility of cooperating also in the hotel sector.
